VEF RIGA adds Bailey, Bowdry

VEF Riga improved its roster hours before the start of the Top 16 by inking point guard Maurice Bailey and forward Brandon Bowdry, the club announced Monday. Both players signed for the remainder of the season. Bowdry (1.98 meters, 23 years old) arrives from Pinar Karsiyaka, where he averaged 4.4 points in 8 Turkish League games this season. He has finished his four-year career at Eastern Michigan University, averaging 19.9 points and 9.5 rebounds in 30 NCAA games in the 2010-11 season. Bailey (1.83 meters, 30 years old) arrives from Trabzonspor, where he averaged 5.7 points in 3 Turkish League games. He is a well-rounded veteran that has played for Panellinios in Greece, Obradoiro in Spain, Crvena Zvezda in Serbia, Lokomotiv Rostov and Spartak Primorie in Russia, Union Olimpija in Slovenia, as well as for Etendard de Brest and Sluc Nancy in France. Bailey helped Nancy to reach the French League title game in 2005 and 2006. He won the Slovenian League and the Slovenian Cup titles with Olimpija in 2008. Both players have been registered in time to face CEZ Nymburk tomorrow.
